I just installed Xfce4 over my Ubuntu 8.04 which already had kde and kde4 installed without any problem. However installing xfce has removed kde4 without any warning! I used the command <sudo aptitude install xubuntu-desktop>. What went wrong, or is it natural?

Adding xfce should not have removed your kde environment. Are you sure it has been removed? Check synaptic package manager to see if kde is still there or not. It might just be a case of logging out and then looking at the session options on the log in screen to see if it is still listed there.
If it has gone, you can always just reinstall it. Your kde desktop settings will have been retained in your /home folder.

Thanks for the reply, but xface was not found in the sessions while logging in! I reinstalled xface again.
