I am running Ubuntu Server 7.10 on a Dell PowerEdge SC440 machine with a Samba shares. After proceeding to security updates using Aptitude, the server is no longer visible on the network.
I can loggin locally without problem, and it looks fine. I can ping the server from another machine to the fixed IP address given by the router, but samba access is impossible, neither is ssh access. Does anyone have any ideas as how to fix this?
Or maybe would it be a good opportunity to upgrade to 8.04 straight away and this would probably fix my problem? My home directory and my system are on the same partition. Will the upgrade still be possible without a complete reformat?
