Slow log in after updates

I could not remember what was updated but i think it was the graphics drivers.
I had compiz installed and after the update, the log in is super slow and lots of errors appear.

If i were to log in with safemode, the system flies. I managed to removed completely my compiz installation but the log in via the normal mode is still slow and not responsive.
Now I have to log in via the safemode in order to type this forum entry.

Can anyone help point to me how I can solve my issue?

i had wanted to change the session for the gnome to the failsafe one as the failsafe one is works better for me. anyone know how i can do this?
