Sorry if this was already posted, but it's pretty recent news and I've searched the entire forum and haven't seen a post related to it. So I've decided to post it myself. Mods, you may delete the thread if I'm wrong.

In any case, onto the good stuff! (http://arstechnica.com/journals/linux.ars/2008/07/14/linux-kernel-2-6-26-officially-released) There is a new version of the kernel. Full changelog here. (http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.26)

Some highlights include:
Support for read-only bind mounts
Better wireless networking (802.11)
x86 page attribute tables
improved webcam support

Pretty impressive, no? I wonder when the Ubuntu team will release this. I was under the impression that 2.6.26 was out already, but apparently this is recent news.

2.6.26 won't be released into Hardy, however the Ubuntu kernel team expect it to form the basis of Intrepid, due in October - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/UDS/May2008

It has some nice features - I wonder when the Arch devs will issue an update :D

Looking forward to the extended Webcam support! Maybe my crappy Genius camera would come to use at last.
