I use Hardy Heron. A week or so ago, there was an update after which my OpenOffice installation has been broken. I have completely removed and reinstalled without success. Here is the error I get while installing under Synaptic. Any advice or ideas?

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/openoffice.org-core_1%3a2.4.1-1ubuntu2_i386.deb: short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/lib/openoffice/program/liboox680li.so')

Wanted to add that the hard drive acts as if there is a hardware issue, that is, it seems like the openoffice core file needs a bigger "buffer" than the hard drive has available. Drive seeks for a long time and then gives up. No problems with any other programs or installations, and only 8 gigs of 40 are used.

Try the official (Sun) version? [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co. (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=68)
