Yeah. I do want spam. It's for this pet project that I'm doing that might/might not work, and will practice my programming skills anyway. But, I have one issue. HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR IT? Any of my sites aren't popular enough, so spambots won't browse through them too often, so I'm guessing I'll try Ubuntuforums. I've also searched for "sign up" tools for spam, but there seem to be very few to none left. So, now for my e-mail address. Feel free to help me get spam or whatever, but don't email it or you will be marked as spam.

joe.fisher999@gmail.com
joe.fisher999 at gmail.com
joe.fisher999 at gmail dot com

Aside from that, anyone have ideas about getting spam? (aside from browsing a ton of illicit sites and "signing up")

how do we know this is really your address, not that you are trying to emailbomb someone?

you could try replying to everything you receive to that address, and click every link you receive. that way you confirm that the address is real.

I've found sometimes it's totally random. I had a Yahoo address for years before ever getting spam on it. Another address that I was assigned through a University system had spam on it the first time I logged on and gets and average of 50 spam a day and the address is only posted on one website and I do nothing else with it.

There have been similar experiments like yours. I'm sure you can find more out with some google-fu.

@ssam: joe.fisher999 was the most generic username I could think of. Not that mine (fsufitch) is too original or anything... If you want to make sure I'm not trying to be evil, you could mail it. Just tell me you're doing it in advance so I know to delete your message before my server grabs it. I'll reply to it and tell you that I am in fact fsufitch.

@Hooya: There were, but many of them refer to spamming websites that no longer exist. The best suggestion they had was to browse random websites and sign up for everything. I'm just afraid I'll get a legit newsletter, and I wouldn't really want to mark that as spam (although that's not detrimental to my project).

I'll post up what my plan for this spam/random emails is once I actually finish coding it. If anything, this is a test for the capacity of Zope 3 to handle massive amounts of objects :). Yes, that's right. I'm using Zope.

How about a Notmail account. No Microsoft bashing, just the fact that I have a hotmail account as one of my dumps. I use it when I need a quick login to a site that I wont visit over and over again and therefore wont want spam from the sites login.

My Hotmail account is clogged to the rafters with spam. I don't go looking for it.

if its a capacity test why not just mail bomb yourself? at least then you know exactly how much is being send and you could turn the volume up or down to your liking.

i'm still not getting the zope - mail thing though, you are either a genius or a fool ;)
