View Full Version : [ubuntu] Video absent on start-up

I did what I thought was a successful (live) install today.

No when I reboot, all I get is a darkly glowing screen, after all the usual stuff, (grub info.... Starting up.... ) at that point it sits there... doing nothing.

If I hard boot and do an "escape" during the grub load, I can hijack the process with a "recovery-mode" boot.

At some point in this process it tells me "Cannot Display this video mode" but then dishes up beautiful 1280 x 1024 resolution...

If I "restart" it loads slow, over a minute for the restart, and screen does come up, but if I stop it altogether and boot from cold, its as I described at the top. Sitting there just with a faint glow on.

Any ideas?
