I am wondering what the difference between CD and DVD is. I have downloaded the Ubuntu 8.04.1 DVD and install it. But I think it is the same as an installation from CD. What's the difference?

It has packages that you can directly install from the DVD rather than download them from the source. It might also have the Alternate. I'm not sure.

You can pack more onto a DVD, therefore saving bandwidth.

On the Slackware Rim, which still grasps its Floppy disk, 56kb modem days, we have one DVD to install all packages, or five CD-ROMs to install all packages.

Thanks.
But I don't know how to use it to install packages. When I add a language, it starts downloading instead of reading the DVD. Shall I edit sources.list manually?

System>Administration>Software Sources>Make sure CD is made available.
