View Full Version : [ubuntu] grub loader hangs after wubi installation

I have an old PC that just barely runs Windows 2000 that I'm trying to resurrect with Unbuntu 8.04
Unfortunately, the installation hasn't been going very well; I can neither boot from a LiveCD or the Alternate Installer CD (both hang with a blank screen with sbm, and get skipped without). Fortunately, I managed to complete an installation with Wubi.
Unfortunately, when I select Ubuntu from the boot menu, it displays "Booting GRLDR..." and does nothing else but display some positively meaningless gibberish dispersed about the screen.
What can I do?

EDIT: Okay, so using the SGD, I've found that none of my partitions or disks show up as Linux. I still cannot boot from a CD, and the Ubuntu selection from the Boot Menu still hangs at "Booting GRLDR..." although the gibberish doesn't seem to show up every time.

EDIT2: MinimalCD also doesn't work; same results as the LiveCD and Alternate Install.
