I have tried the synaptic packet manager and removed lot of packages installed, but i got lot of problems even i cant able to access my hdd, later i have recoverd.

my question is how to remove packages as functionality wise?
I dont have network - how to remove the complete network packages?
I dont want Audio & Video - how to remove the complete Audio & Video packages?

and so on...

As far as removing specific unneeded packages, AFAIK the only way to do it is to tirelessly peruse Synaptic.
