And burning the windows install CD + key and replace the picture of your partner on your desk with one of Linus Torvalds.

(I'm been sarcastic if you didn't noticed it)

I don't know, for some reason I find it are 10 tips for more experienced Linux users. There are better articles out there.

In that article it says to install linux-image-686... That package doesn't depend on anything, but linux-image-386 does...

Is there really an advantage to using this one, and should the 686 package do anything?

i don't think they have a specific linux-image-686 anymore, you're supposed to use the default install's linux-image-generic instead. in theory the 686 one should be faster because it is compiled to use some of the advanced features modern processors have, but i think they got rid of it because it was actually slower than the generic kernel in some cases and offered little improvement in others.

Well what about the 386 image, is that worth getting?

I don't really need it, just wondering, if it is faster it would be a slight increase of speed for no effort and I'm good with that

well you could always experiment, the 386 kernel shouldn't be any faster though (it is compatible with 386 processors that first came out in 1986 ) but your experience might be different.
