Hey,
I don't often pay attention to adverts, so if this is old news, please accept my apologies. But today as I was walking through Victoria Station to go to work (in London, UK) I noticed on the big news screen an orange advert which read:
I am who I am because of everyone
Now, is this or is this not a complete rip-off off the Ubuntu slogan?!

No, I mean what the word "Ubuntu" means and it's philosophy, which is something like:
I am who I am because of who we all are

Ubuntu the distro doesn't have exclusive rights to the ubuntu ethos, nor is it competing with Orange for business, so I can't see any problem with Orange's ad campaign.

Why don't Canonical sell those anymore? I wonder what my gf would say if I got one for her. Brings whole new take on the phrase "I'm really getting into Ubuntu these days"

Yeah, I know. But it's kind of ironic that they're spouting this philosophy to make them look friendly when all the're really after is a bigger market share. The message I got from the ad was as if they'd invented the saying.
The homepage for the ad campaign is here (http://www.i-am-everyone.co.uk/) for anyone who's intested.
I just find it sad when a humanist notion is being turned into a capitalist one.

I agree, but that's just the way of the world.
Doubt if it will change in our lifetimes.

The text on that page is a load of b****cks!
"It's why we do what we do."
