Hi, i am new to ubuntu, and i am experiencing great difficulty installing hardy heron.

I have checked the cd for faults and it is fine, however everytime i try load ubuntu, it restarts the computer just as it appears i is finished loading! this is so frustrating. i cannot run it in live mode because it does the same.

does anyone have any idea why this may be happening?

As you have mentioned that you already checked the CD for faults. As in md5 check before you burned the ISO file? And burned it using lower speed? Check this site (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto) if you performed similar action as what is listed on the page.

And..

Can you post the specification of your computer so at least we could have the slightest idea on what could be the problem.

P4, 2GB RAM, 500 gb hd, gigabyyte ga8-ipe1000 motherboard.

i did the "check cd for defects" when the initial screen apears, and it came back with no errors found. i burnt it on a slow speed too.
