this comp i am on wont let me choose ANYTHING but the default when booting up.it does this with the gentoo live cd,mandriva live cd,ubuntu live cd and the knoppix as well.and even with something like the super grub disk,i cant get anything but the default option.when i go to another computer i can scroll thru the choices and it works fine.i looked thru the bios options and did not see anything i could think of that would make grub not work and let me choose my option.
same issue with various rescue cd's as well.insert rescue,Gparted live and the super grub disk and one other i heaved and cant recall the name.
ideas?

thanks all

Grub seems to work fine, the problem is your keyboard, which does not function during bootup, a common thing with usb models. Look for that in the bios.
