Hey, I'm new to Linux. Like, really new. Now, I have a Wacom Graphire CTE-640 tablet, but I have no clue how to make it work. I downloaded the driver files from the Wacom site for Linux, and now I just don't know what to do. I can't open any of the files provided in the download, much less use them. I haven't installed any drivers before on Linux, (just got Ubuntu like, 2 days ago, a friend installed it)

I'm sure it's some really simple solution staring me in the face, but I cant figure it out. help?

+1. I've tried it and it works flawlessly, and faster than the poster implies ;)

One recommendation: please read the instructions in their entirety (and a few posts after) before you start so you know exactly what to expect and what issues you might face during installation beforehand.

If you want to configure only a portion of your tablet as a working area and for Gimp and Inkscape configuration tips, there is also this link (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom).

If you'd like pointers on discovering all about your new system, please click "Look here" in my signature below for helpful links.

Cheers and welcome to Ubuntu ;)
