I recently got an old ibm thinkpad 600E. Now, that machine has a pc card slot, and so i was thinking about getting a PCMCIA ethernet or wifi adaptor. But the thing is, i also wanted to be able to use the card(if i got one) on other laptops, and went searching for something like a USB adaptor(For PC cards). Thats where the trouble started. Things like expresscards started turning up, and further researching left me more confused.

Could someone give me the difference between PCMCIA/PC Cards and expresscards? And can expresscards be used in PC Card slots?

:(

Expresscard is a newer standard, designed to replace the older PCMCIA standard. The two types are completely incompatible, you must use a card designed for your type of slot.
