View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 x86 sound issues

July 8th, 2008, 03:46 PM

I successfully upgraded from the previous version by clicking update distribution button in the update manager. Update took about 30 minutes, and then machine rebooted. Before update, EVERYTHING was working just fine.

Now, my issue.
Firefox can play sound from youtube, but none of my other audio players can. VLC can't play anything, Audacious stops too.

System -> Preferences -> Sound has everything mapped to ALSA. I can hear the sound when I click the test buttons. Do I miss a symlink somewhere?

Please advice what to do next.
