Hey everyone,
I've been having a problem with my server running hearty 8.04 with regards to any time I try to update a program or get plugins (rythmbox) it will stall and do nothing, for hours if I let it. The computer doesn't freeze or crash, I can still cancel and force quit the updater or app trying to update but anything at all
--rythmbox installing plugins
--add/remove apps in GUI
--update manger
what I've found to be the common factor is that all these seem to stop where it should be asking for my admin password to install things like that, but no diologue pops up, and also some admin tasks once activated
system>admin>synaptic for example will seem to start (a task bar at the bottom reads starting...whatever task...) and then disappear without starting anything.
any thoughts?
