Booting from disc on a Thinkpad R31

Hi,

I'm trying to install ubuntu for my first time on an IBM ThinkPad R31 but I am unable to boot the system from the disc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Which Ubuntu releases did you try? 8.04 or 8.04.1 ?

If you downloaded a copy of ubuntu before July 4th, I'd suggest to re-download:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

You have the most current release (8.04.1) there.
