Text to Speech

I am looking for a text to speech option on Linux that works with OpenOffice. I would like to find something that operates by highlight text in OpenOffice, click a button (or some other simple action) and then the text would be read out loud. Microsoft Office on Windows has a similar feature that I use when editing and I would like to find this functionality on Linux. I have tried Festival and Espeak before but there interface didn't work for me. Does any one have suggestions on things to try.
