Hi Guys

I have and IBM Laptop with 40G hardrive. There is not OS on the laptop, I want to put Ubuntu 8.04 as a primary OS. For some reason i can't get the intallion to work. please tell me what am I doing wrong. Here is what I do.
I boot from Ubuntu CD and select install everything goes fine untill it get to the point where i have to select the timezone and partation. Then it become very slow and it keep freezing. please help me

How much RAM does the computer have?

If it has less than 384Mb then you want to try the alternate (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download) (text based) install. Click on the alternate box before downloading.
The best version of Ubuntu for PCs with lower resources is Xubuntu which you can get from here (http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/hardy/release/)
