Help me choose

i cant decide which 1 to buy, when i do decide it will be used to dual boot linux and windows what do people advise?

It's a hard call. They're both a bit vague in some areas.

=Satellite vagueness=
- wireless (make? model?)
- battery (6 cell? 9 cell?)

=Samsung vaguenesss=
- Processor model/speed

I recommend contacting the sellers to find out before you give them your money.

I'd also google for the video card models and see if there are any issues with them and linux.

Asides from that it looks like it may be a tough call.

out of those two I would pick the samsung. Provided I dont know the processor model on the samsung I dont know if it is faster or slower than the satellite but it should work better with linux. They both seem to have primarily intel chips including the wireless (intel = good). The samsung has a nvidia video card (nvidia = okay) and the satellite has an ATI chip (ati = not great but working to make it better).

The processor is a Intel Centrino T5750 (2.0Ghz) processor. is it any good?

The T5XXX are the lowest end of the mobile intel core 2 duo's. T5xxx is basically a T7xxx with half of the L2 Cache disabled and a slower FSB (667MT/s instead of 800MT/s). T5xxx and T7xxx are also referred to as Merom -

The best processors available in the mobile laptops currently, are the T8xxx and T9xxx (also known as Penryn). Just a piece of info, not a discouragement ... the Low end merom's are still far better than their precessors (pentium 1/2/3/4/M/D, Core Duo), and likely much cheaper than their successors (penryn) also. It just depend what you're comparing them to how good they are. :)

Just looked around and most laptops have the T5 processors within my price range there cant be that much of a noticable difference in performane between the T5 and T8,s can there?

In a nutshell all i want the laptop for is the usual web ect, photoshop and movie editing will a low end T5 be up to the task without dying every time i open up PS or Firefox at the same time?

are the AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 Processor's any good compared to a cor 2 duo T5xxx

Last I heard the C2D processors were still better than AMD's best offerings ... besides, the wireless chipset on the intel is bound to be far less trouble - it may even work out of the box (mine does, but it hasn't for some)

Thanks for that Kuja my friend who knows more about processors than me said what you have just said about C2D AMD's its allways nice to get a second oppinion, i still fancy the HP i just dont want it to curl up and play dead when i run a program like Nero,Photoshop Winavi,Premiere or any other high cpu usage software.
