View Full Version : [ubuntu] Window draw delay with NVidia dual monitor

I have a laptop with an NVidia graphics device. The external monitor I am using is a different resolution than the laptop's monitor, so while TwinView has been working fine, I really want to set up two separate X screens.

So, I did that, with nvidia-settings, and everything seems to be working fine except that any windows mapped or resized have at least a one-second delay, but only on the external monitor. Moving windows, and using any of the fancy compiz plugins seem to be fine, so it's not a hardware acceleration issue.

Anyone know what the issue is?

gnome. I tried to get gnome to play nice with TwinView for days. The only solution I found was to switch to Xubuntu. gnome apparently (according to many others more experienced than myself) is way behind the others in the dual monitor dept. Plus Xfce is faster than gnome, so Xubuntu may work faster for you!
