Gentoo's package manager FEELS superior to Arch's.
Gentoo's list of packages on the website are categorized and well-laid-out compared to Arch.
USE Flags trump any talk of "lean and mean" Arch installs.
The Gentoo handbook is...about on par with Arch's install guide.
And they both offer from-the-ground-up customization.

But I still can't get that into Gentoo. I don't know what it is. I got extremely early on into using it, and just gave up. I don't see what my reasoning could be though. Learning a new package manager certainly wouldn't be daunting enough to put me off a whole distro. What's my problem?

If you're like me, it comes down to the logo. I think maybe you just didn't like the gentoo logo enough. For me, it has on and off actually been an influencing factor as I switch between ubuntu and gentoo occasionally. I wish ubuntu had a shiny looking logo like gentoo to be quite honest. I know that's about the stupidest thing that you could read regarding this, but its true.

Meh, its Gentoo's lack of development that keeps me away from it.

The sheer amount of unfinished work is astonashing. It trips over its own fail-sauce :P

Too long to update it, took me 2 days to update because of all the compiling. Pulls out my AHHH book. No need for all that compiling.
