In the last couple of days the BBC iPlayer website has been revamped, including the availability of most radio programmes in flash format, the same as the TV shows.

I'm sure I'm not alone in having had various problems in getting the BBC's Real Audio and Windows Media radio programmes to play in Ubuntu, so I thought it might be useful to draw attention to this development.

Currently listening to Colin Murray in said format

I use squeezecenter -

http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_features.html

With a squeezebox -

http://www.slimdevices.com/

with the alienbbc plugin -

http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/

to listen to the bbc. Every radio program from the last seven days is available aswell as podcasts and a few other stations.

Now I`ve never tried this but they have a music player that works with squeezecenter called softsqueeze -

http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/

If it works with squeezecenter you won`t have a problem listening to the bbc.
