My Sandisk mp3 player got hung one day - I was listening to it and turned it off, after that whenever I turn it on it remains stuck at that song (doesn't play it), none of the buttons work (including the power one - I have to pop out the battery to turn it off), and it doesn't show up when I plug it into the computer.
Could someone please help me get my mp3 player back?
Thanks.

Maybe the firware got spoiled. Do a firmware upgrade from the CD/DVD that came in with the MP3 player.

Or if your sandisk is one if "SanDisk: Sansa c200, e200 and e200R series (not the v2 models)", you could install rockbox onto it http://www.rockbox.org/rockbox100.png (http://www.rockbox.org/), whcih is an open source os for mp3 players. It shouldn't let this happen again :)

LinuxIsInnovation and Vadi, thanks for your responses.

It is a Sansa c140, and it didn't come with a CD - someone gave it to me actually. I'm not sure if Rockbox would work on this. Moreover, the device would have to mount for me to install anything on it, wouldn't it?

Well, here's the manual for installing it on c200: (click (http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-sansac200/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-60002)). I'd recommend checking out their forums first if anyone had experience with a c140.

I'll take a look at this, but it will be of no use to me if my player doesn't mount. Could anyone please tell me if I can force the player to mount?

I was unable to use the forums for a couple of months in between and now it seems things are not quite the same as before - I've had three unresolved problems for weeks now - that never happened earlier.

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot this? My first thought would be to check if there is a reset button or needle hole (like my samsung)

I did find a manual at the SanDisk site for c100 series players here: http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=legacy&thread.id=276

I hope this is a help

alzie, no reset button.

Could someone please tell me how to see if a device is mounted or not, and if not, how to force it to mount?
