As per the schedule, Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.1 is to be released
on Jul 3. Can anyone throw some more light on it.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule
Any tentative dates ?

EDIT: Actually, I think 8.04.1 is just a different CD so new users don't have to download a crapload of stuff.

Yes. If you have Hardy 8.04 installed and apply the updates the day 8.04.1 is released, you will have 8.04.1

If you do a Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to a tty you will see it says
Ubuntu 8.04.1
Press Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to X.
Not sure when they will be releasing an iso image though.

I've needed to do a reinstall of ubuntu. I tried using startupmanager to tweak some stuff and it messed up my bootsplash. Everything I try just makes it worse or something.
It's so annoying and then I've had to download 200+ updates as well as a kernel update so then I end up with a ton of kernel options.

NOTICE TO USERS!: If your system is up-to-date, you are already using 8.04.1. Check your grub and use the version check command. The ISO is out too. Check the download filename from the site.

I suppose there is a change file somewhere you could look at to determine where the differences lie.

Is the file you download from www.ubuntu.com the same as 8.04.1 now, instead of 8.04? I've already downloaded 8.04.1
