View Full Version : [kubuntu] How can I get the ".hidden" feature back?

I really love this feature in Edgy with which I can hide annoying files and folders I don't like to see which is created by some "adamant" programs, such as digikam3.db by DigiKam, and contestapplet.conf by TopCoder Arena.

But this function is canceled when Feisty released, at least in the Kubuntu side. The .hidden files don't work any more, and I have to abide the bedlam condition of my folder views.

From other posts (like http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=843822&highlight=.hidden) I know that the .hidden file still works well in Nautilus now. But does anyone know how can I get this feature back in my Dolphin and Konqueror?

(My system: Kubuntu 8.04, KDE 4.1 Beta 2)

When checking conqueror I don't see any of the files with names starting with . in my $HOME, try checking if show hidden files in the view menu is checked. If that doesn't work I don't know what it could be.

I don't mean the files starting with a dot but files with ANY filename.

This feature has been discussed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/75017 and removed from later distributions, however, what I want is to get this function back.
