View Full Version : UK Legal Music Sites for Linux

In the UK, the Government are putting out plans to make ISPs use a 3 strike system for customers who illegally share files, and hand over addresses to the authorities.

They say people should use legal music stores, but everyone I have looked at that has a decent library doesn't work with Linux. Amazon have done it right in the US with their MP3 downloader, but I can't get it in the UK...

So, are there any legal music stores in the UK that work on Linux? (not Jamendo or Magnatunes)

Try 7Digital (http://www.7digital.com) and Play.com (http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download/6-/DigitalHome.html). Most of their conent does not have DRM which is pretty cool. I think Amazon will be expanding globally this year (well thats what I read somewhere a few months back).

Theres also tesco.co.uk --> make sure you get the MP3s as the WMAs will not work.

I'm just waiting for Amazon MP3 to come the UK.

7Digital is now 100% MP3 according to its homepage, although
it'sl not quite. Thats's all four major labels with no DRM in the UK.
