I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my home desktop (finally talked wife into it)...its a dual boot for now though until she gets used to it.

Anyways, both of my DVD drives are not recognized when I put something into the drive. Yet, I was able to install Ubuntu :) and if I do sysinfo it recognizes my drives there no prob. Any tips? Much appreciated & thanks!

From SYSINFO...

Drive #1 -
Vender: NEC
Model: DVD_RW ND-3500AG

Drive #2 -
Vender: HP
Model: DVD Writer 940d

I just went down your road! The prob, was both drives jumpers were set to "Cable Select " ! It worked in Windows, But Ubuntu didn't Like it! So changing to Slave and Master fix it!
