I have some newbie questions, I'm still waiting on my install disk of Unbutu to arrive. My questions are, will the games Star Wars Battlefront and Republic Commando install and run on Linux??? The links to each can be found here Battlefront (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swbattlefront/) Republic commando (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/starwarsrepubliccommando/review.html)

I also was wondering, will window's based 3D animation programs (other then Blender) work with linux????

Any advice would be appreciated!

To run a lot of games that are written for windows you will need to use something like wine to install them. (can install wine from the ubuntu repos) Here is what the wine website says about those 2 games.

When running such games under wine, as much as I hate to say this, expect them not to work, but be pleasantly surprised if/when they do. While wine is an amazing tool, it is not perfect, and it is not *******.

If you have the HDD space, you could consider a dual-boot. Here's an excellent How-To:

I plan to dual-boot with Vista and I have the before mentioned games installed with vista. I was just wondering if they would work on linux.
