I have downloaded the jdk-6u6-i586.bin from sunjava.com on a pendrive and tried copying it to linux home folder but am not able to (have tried renaming and then copying)says file is corrupt. Is there a way to install it from a pendrive and how as i cannot afford to download it directly due to slow connection.

Maybe try downloading the file again and see what happens.

Aptoncd (http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/) is a handy program to use if you have slow internet.
