How to restore the progress bar when bootling Ubuntu 8.04? I cannot see it anymore, now I just see a load of kernel booting messages instead of that bar. The same happens when shutting down.
I've been tryng to change some theme (installed and activated ubuntu-studio for example) but the problem persists.

Thanks for your time.
Regards, manolo.

Yes please, i'd like to see this fixed too.
I just get, grub screen, then "starting" then...
"this screen res not supported"... then a minute of darkness until the login screen pops up, and i log in, in glorious 1280 x 1024 res..
Why no progress bar? or shutdown bar?
jeff

8.04. Dell optiplex 240 celeron, 600 meg ram, Dell 1905 monitor.
Optimum res 1280 x 1024 according to Dell specs.
Does the progress bar boot in 800 x 600 or something?
