Why doesn't "Free Software Only" option work?!

I've created another thread and some people said, Ubuntu 8.10 (Ibex Intrepid) will start to support this free as in freedom software. But, Ubuntu 8.04 also has this feature when I press F6 twice. However, when I select it, I still seem to see Firefox on the live CD. I thought this would be temporary and the installation will have nothing but free as in freedom software but it ended up still having Firefox and Firefox has some proprietary parts.

Am I doing something wrong? Is Ubuntu 8.04's feature not working properly? Or is everything actually working and only the free parts of Firefox are installed?

Please help clear this for me.

firefox is fully open and free as far as I know.(you can find the source code here: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Download_Mozilla_Source_Code). However when you reference "parts that arent free" you are talking about things like flashplugin-nonfree. In the Free software only mode this is not installed.

Actually, I'm referring to proprietary artwork. It was said that Firefox would be replaced by Epiphany.

im not familiar with any proprietary art work. I guess some themes could be proprietary but I believe everything that comes with firefox 3.0 standard is open. Can you site a source on that possibly?

Wait..this whole proprietary artwork thing is just for the Firefox logo?! I find that ridiculous and the guy made a point, Ubuntu as a whole has proprietary names/logos. But it's just names/logos and correct me if I am wrong... doesn't that give identity to certain software?

So, in the end Firefox is still fully free software, right (in what matters, which is essentially everything but the names/logos)?

What about this Evolution and more notably OpenOffice.org issue?
