Hi
I want to make an ad to motivate musicians to submit their system sounds suggestions. Although this resembles a competition a little, it’s not.

What I'm thinking of is some kind of an ad, emphasizing that if your sounds gets selected, they will be used on millions of computers. I think that a prize like that will the enough (of course real prizes always motivates people more).
I'm a professional musician and I have never meet opportunities like this on the sites and forums where I go.
There has to be a super easy way to submit and review the suggestions - maybe a completely new website.

I really hope that I've explained my thoughts thoroughly.

I was inspired by this brainstorm: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/10031/
You might also want to check out one of my similar ideas on wallpapers (this idea is dead) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=844633

The graphics look very funky. But the wording could be refined.

First of all, "Sound Design" isn't very inspiring. Try something like "Sound Off!", "Make Soundz", "Do You Want to be Heard?" (useful for aspiring sound artists wanting to build a portfolio). Try an inspiring headline that will actually attract attention, make it creative, because you're trying to attract creative people who are strong sense of originality and flair.

Second, "What is this competition?" is a bit of a put-off if you then go on to say it is NOT a competition. Better to say, "What is this about?", or even try something suggestive like, "What's the Sound Off?!", "Make sounds for?". Something like, "Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." can make people chuckle and read on.

Or you could try a different angle of attack altogether.

Perhaps for a background picture, have a screenie of Tom Cruise hanging from the ceiling, typing in something to a computer with a Ubuntu logo on it (derived from the famous Mission Impossible scene), wearing a set of headphones. Then something like this:

YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT...

...is to develop next-generation audio for one of the most advanced and most popular free computer operating systems in existance.

Showcase your talents!

Make yourself heard by creating the coolest sounds for the next release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system, used by millions across the globe.

Your imagination and skill!

Enter your audio to the Ubuntu development teams and the world-wide community of Ubuntu Linux users. Only your imagination and skill matter! Your contributions will make future Ubuntu Linux more pleasing to use.

Your contribution will be fully credited. As Ubuntu Linux is a free operating system, there are no money prizes. But you can take pride that you're a part of the next generation of computing revolution.

Are you up for the challenge?

Then go to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/artwork for more...

That's just off the top of my head. Perhaps it's a little too flashy and rough.

Just my 2 cents. :)

WOW! Thanks that's way better. I really love the "Do You Want to be Heard?"

The text example is great. I'll use that as a starting point. If anyone has other suggestions PLEASE post them :)

Okay, I've added the new text and moved things around. Here is a new example:

I'm still looking for feedback (if any) on the text. Perhaps a white version:

after "The Quest" start with Develop and cut the previous 2 words ("is to" I think ).

I prefer the the top dark red with the guy looking up, I would like a different font though.
