Hi,
I'm administering a samba server for my lab (formerly running ubuntu x86). We just purchased a new set of drives for it, so I figured I might as well upgrade the OS to ubuntu x86-64. I thought I could just copy the passwd/shadow files and so on, and users would be defined in the new OS just as they were in the old OS. However, when I copied those files over, I lost ethernet functionality (and possibly other bad things I don't know about). So I'm wondering if there's a way I can import previously defined users into linux/ubuntu. I'd really prefer to not have to have everyone reset their passwords. Thanks.
