Unless you have a specific reason, such as testing upcoming hardware or part of the testing team, installing an Aplha 1 is a nice bit of fun, but not very useful unless stated above applies.

I'd maybe try it under VMWare or the like.

It's stable as a rock for me and has actually fixed my laptop backlight issue (backlight wouldn't turn on when I booted up).

Don't try 8.10 at the moment unless you know what you're doing :D

Upgraded to Intrepid. Looks more stable than a typical alpha 1. Some changes I noticed, were "compact view" finally added to nautilus, revamped pulseaudio applet, revamped volume controller, stabler evolution, my touchpad tapping works again, latest kernel.

I think I am satisfied with upgrading.

I am ok with new (but buggy) features. :)
