Hey guys,
My mom just bought a new Asus Eee PC (the black one) and i wanted to install Ubuntu Hardy on her laptop, "i don't have any live CD of Hardy" but i do have a live CD of Gusty, so i tried to install Gusty but i got an error saying : "Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution" and now i have planed to download Hardy, burn it and then install it but i don't know which one should i download...
can u plz help me????

I don't think the Eee PC can support 64-bit, so you would have to download the 32-bit version of Ubuntu Hardy, also, I'm a bit ignorant here, but how much RAM does that particular Eee PC have?

I've been working on the same thing... trying to install hardy on a eeePC.
I found the following sites useful:

You get that error when you try to install a 64bit os on a 32bit machine. Im assuming you are trying to install the 64bit version of ubuntu (file name: ubuntu-8.04-desktop-amd64.iso). The eeepc has a 32bit processor. Download the 32bit (x86) version of ubuntu here. (http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download)
Also, posting multiple threads about the same subject is considered bad forum etiquette, if you do not understand ask for clarification in your original thread
