I installed KDE desktop with 'apt-get' few days ago and tried it. I found I don't like it and I want to uninstall it and get rid of it! Only problem is that I cannot seem to uninstall it with apt-get remove! How do I take off KDE desk top totally off my Ubuntu?

Have you tried synaptic package manager or you could type this into your konsole
sudo aptitude remove kubuntu-desktop
It only works on 8.04!

I managed to uninstall KDE desktop using Aptitude. It took some of my programs which was installed separately too! but I reinstalled them.

The problem is I still have the KDE option in in log in session selection menu. how do I take it off from the Session menu at the start up?

Thanks I used this and it went flawlessly. KuBuntu was just too "busy" for my tastes. I DO like Ubuntu standard 10.4 LTS. Not too "cluttered" and somewhat customizable..using it now!

Don't know why I waited so long to try it except back in the early 2000s I tried a version of "Red Hat" that came with a book I bought and it left a nasty taste in my mouth and me in psychoanalysis(just kidding folks)..LOL

I am upgrading in a couple of days to 2MB of RAM in my current system. 2MB is all it can hold. With Linux as long as it doesn't mechanically fail It should be good for many more years...(U Listening Microsoft?) Thanks Linux!

I want to do the opposite. I installed the KDE desktop on top of Ubuntu Oneiric and I want to remove Gnome. How can I do that?
