bad fstab entry help

Hello,
I did a minor mistake to my fstab file. Now I want to recover from it; however the file system gets mounted as read only. How can I change it to read rewrite so that I can make the appropriate change to fstab. I am not able to umount it. Any suggestions? Do I need to boot from a liveCD?
