Which is better for backups?

I know that the laptop HDD is generally slower than the desktop. But since it is used as a backup storage device, it would not be accessed that often.

I was told that a laptop HDD can handle physical shock better since it was built for mobility. But also heard that they die faster than the desktop.

I need something large yet affordable. So these 2 are my only options. I need some opinions on which might be a better choice.

I'd say a desktop HDD, they generally come in a larger storage size, and are less expensive as $/GB.

Get a Seagate Hard Drive Retail or OEM 5yr warranty. Get an external enclosure for it.

Combined you should be able to get both for <$120.
