I tried to install Ubuntu Server 8.04 without any success on a iBook G3 with a dead Display/Graphiccard
What I did so far is installing from the alternate CD in target disk mode, using the iBook G4 of my girlfriend, but obviously this gives some problems with yaboot (error message, the machine doesn't boot)
Currently I remote installed mac OS X 10.4 Server with the Server Assistant, I can connect the machine via SSH and Apple Remote Desktop. Is there a way to "crossgrade" to Ubuntu?
Or is it possible to create something like an unattended install of ubuntu server?
The reason I would like to switch to Ubuntu is: the System has only 356MB RAM. why waste them with a running GUI?

Thanks for your help!

You should go to the Apple Users Forum. There is at least one if not two threads involving installation from a firewire drive.
