Surround Sound Not Working :S

I have just upgraded to hardy heron and am having some difficulties getting my surround sound to work. I have an SB Live sound card and 5.1 surround sound. I have enabled the "Surround" and "wave Surround" tracks in "Volume Control and have changed my default sound card to my SB live one instead of the on board sound but i cannot get my back two speakers to work nor can i get my center one to work. any advice would be much appreciated, thanx :D

Same problem Here
lspci for the sound card gives

01:01.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs [SB Live! Value] EMU10k1X

with
speaker-test -c6 -twav
only front speakers work.

anyone....help

this is sad. I had to do a reinstall of hardy, and whereas before I could get my svlive 5.1 working, now I can't get my rear speakers to work at all.
