Will be upgrading to 8.04 64bit in the near future

Yes I will be using more than 3Gb of RAM.

My question is this.
Will my new nvidia 8600GT and a Creative Sound blaster Audigy SE 7.1 be autodetected and installed for me?

I've been having trouble finding just a simple listing of what works and what doesn't.

I'm not sure about your sound card, but I have an 8600GT which works fine. To get the best support for it you will want to install the restricted nvidia drivers for it, either from Systme->Administration->Hardware Drivers (in Hardy only) or using EnvyNG - http://albertomilone.com/envyngfaq.html#A
