View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to get Ubuntu to interface with my DV Cam via IEEE 1394

I used to use Mandriva Linux and it worked well. I could download videos from my DV Cam using Kino and the Firewire connection.
Then I switched to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. Kino still worked somewhat. It did not have the controls but at least it could interface with my DV Cam via Firewire. I had to press the play button on the Cam before I could capture videos.
When I upgraded to Gutsy Gibbons it did not work at all. Now when I´ve upgraded to Hardy Heron it just doesn´t seem to be able to recognise it at all. I installed ¨gscanbus¨ and when I run gscanbus in terminal mode it could interface with my DV Cam via Firewire. I could start and stop the cam and play and record but when I am running Kino it just does not see it at all.
Please help. Thanks in advance.
