Hi, I've recently installed Ubuntu on a clean HD, ext3 format on 100 gigs of 160 total, but I realized that I also want XP on for games, since I'm having way too much trouble running them on ubuntu.

So, I've read this guide http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_linux_and_windows_xp_linux_instal led_first.htm?page=4

until I got to the point where it says to install xp from the cd, which I can't do because it totally skips detecting the cd at boot time, despite the fact I made a 35 gig ntfs partition

CD is set as first choice in boot order, next is the HD

So how do I make it detect and boot from the xp cd so I can install it ?

I think it's the master boot loader, but I don't know what to do to fix it.

thanks for reading

Sounds like your XP CD is bad. To find out put in your Ubuntu CD (or any other live CD) and reboot the computer. If it boot to that CD then you will know.
