hi.. i am making a project with one of my friends and he gave me a flash drive which has the project. He also said that there was a virus on the pen drive. Since we were in rather a hurry ans we didn't have any other means of transferring the data I took the infected drive home. Now, since I know there is a virus on the drive I dont want to plug it in while I am running windows. Will it be safe to plug it into the computer while I am running linux? ( I have a dual boot system)

In other words "can windows viruses affect Linux?"

I reverse engineer malware as part of my job. We use linux as our base OS just for the reason that a window virus won't affect it then work in Windows VMs. We can infect those all day long and then just revert to a clean snapshot when we're done.

I laugh when people for fun try to run viruses in Wine :P

well, some viruses actually do use the cpu then when running them in wine :)
