Anyone got Gnome to work in Slackware 12.1? I have tried two of them but they messed up my system. I might have done something wrong, but I'm not sure. So if anyone has any suggestions I am up for them.

I don't know what you tried, but there's dropline GNOME (http://www.droplinegnome.org/), GNOME SlackBuild (http://gnomeslackbuild.org/), and GWARE (http://www.gware.org/). I can't confirm whether these work, because I'll drop dead before I install GNOME on my nice Slack box. But dropline has a good reputation...

I used Gnome SlackBuild, and it is working fine, I really don't like KDE and XFCE is too old looking. I have liked Gnome since I tried Ubuntu, and wanted to install in Slackware. I still have KDE and XFCE in case I need to fall back. What do you use cardinals_fan?

I use Xmonad. If I had to use a DE, I would use KDE 3.5, slimmed down for my preferences.
