I have a Highpoint RocketRAID 3210 raid controller that I want to end up booting Ubuntu server from. They provide a .img file and instructions for installing the driver from floppy during Ubuntu installation.

I have no floppy connector on this computer. Is it possible to load the driver in this .img file from a usb thumb drive, during installation? If so, how is it done? I've done a lot of searching on this.

Alternatively, I could install everything on a different computer that does have a floppy, then remove the controller and the two drives and put them into the computer I would like to use. Do you think that would work?

thanks in advance,

Peter
