i just installed eeexubuntu on me asus eeepc 900 and im trying to upgrade but on step 2 (setting new software channels), it fails and says:

"Can't install 'xubuntu-desktop'

It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a bug."

has anyone else experienced this?

I have--Everex and gOS only used some of the standard packages from Ubuntu 7.10 on my system, and Upgrade to 8.04 likewise failed for me, as gOS uses its own Desktop package (viz., goodos-desktop 1.3) rather than the XUbuntu Desktop standard. Most of my experience with building an install has been with the Red Hat RPM system and not Ubuntu/Debian, so, I'm sorry, I doubt that I can help much.

For further info see the thread "Upgrading to 8.02.1" from:
